Biography

I am a researcher with over fifteen years of professional experience in academia, trained in Statistics and specializing in data analytics, computational social science, and social network analysis. Throughout my academic career, I have contributed to science and technology by integrating data-driven methodologies into social and behavioral research.

I have taught Statistical Programming with R, Advanced Quantitative Research Methods, Business Intelligence, Data Mining, and Social Media Analytics. My expertise includes data mining, text mining, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and machine learning algorithms. My master’s thesis applied text mining techniques to analyze political speeches, uncovering structural and thematic patterns in political communication. In recent years, I have expanded this work by incorporating advanced NLP methods, conducting research on discourse modeling, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and large-scale computational text analysis.

My doctoral dissertation, titled “Measuring the Effect of Focus on Network and Behavior Dynamics in Social Networks with the Help of a Mathematical Model,” proposed a distance-based mathematical model to explain behavioral and structural dynamics within social networks. This work contributed to the quantitative understanding of how network structures and individual behaviors co-evolve in social systems.

My interdisciplinary research integrates computational modeling, network theory, NLP, and social media analytics to examine online polarization, digital communication, climate discourse, and crisis communication. Recently, I have also been conducting research on digital accessibility, focusing on the inclusiveness of online platforms and digital content. This line of work addresses digital inequalities and explores how data-driven approaches can support more equitable access to information and participation in digital environments.

I have more than a decade of experience contributing to the advancement of data analytics in social and communication research. I am technically proficient in R, Python, SPSS, WEKA, Gephi, NodeXL, and JMP, with extensive experience in managing and analyzing large-scale datasets.

In 2022, I served as a Machine Learning Expert in an EU IPA Project for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey. I also gained international research experience as a research fellow at the City University of New York, Department of Computer Science.

My ongoing research focuses on computational polarization and discourse modeling, particularly in understanding how digitalization and social media shape democratic processes and public debate.

I am fluent in English, the primary language of my teaching and research, and I am a native Turkish speaker.
