Assoc. Prof. RAMAZAN KARSLIOĞLU

Biography

I am currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Design at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. I completed my Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Sakarya University in 2007 and worked as a research assistant at the same university from 2005 to 2016. From 2016 to 2020, I served as an Assistant Professor, followed by an appointment as an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University from 2020 to 2021. Since 2021, I have been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Design at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

Throughout my academic career, I conducted research on electrical (transformer) steels at Cardiff University's Wolfson Institute. I completed a postdoctoral research project on ultra-hard coatings at the University at Arlington. At Warwick University and the Advanced Steel Research Centre (ASRC) at WMG, I conducted research on thermo-mechanical processing of steels and contributed to advancements in the field. I am proficient in various analytical techniques including Scanning Electron Microscopy (EBSD, EDX included), XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, FTIR, Thermal Analysis (TGA, DTA, LFA), Tribology, and mechanical testing (hardness, fracture, tensile tests). My current research focuses on the microstructure and characterization of material properties. I have significant expertise in SEM using instruments such as Hitachi SU5000 and Jeol 7800F, as well as in EBSD techniques using equipment like Oxford Symmetry and Aztec Crystal.

I served as the Director of the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University from 2020 to 2023, chaired the Department of Translational Medicine at the Health Sciences Institute from 2021 to 2023, and held positions as a board member of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University since 2020. My publications include numerous articles in various international journals and presented conference papers.
