Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cengiz KARATAŞ

Born in 1978 in Giresun, the researcher graduated from Ankara High School in 1996, then from Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History-Geography, Department of Turkish Language and Literature and Anadolu University, Department of International Relations (English). In 2003, he completed his master's program at Ankara University with his thesis on “Approach to the Establishment Process of the Ottoman Empire in Turkish Novel” and received the title of science specialist; in 2010, he completed his doctorate program at Ankara University with his thesis on “Intellectual Movements in the Second Constitutional Monarchy Period and Their Reflections on Turkish Literature” and received the title of doctor. The author, who has worked as a radio programmer as well as an editor in various printed and virtual journals, continues his studies, many of which are interdisciplinary. He has participated in meetings and lectured on Ottoman-Turkish modernization, orientalism, Islamophobia, etc. on Turkish-Islamic thought and literature in Turkey and in Germany, France, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Hungary, Austria, Lebanon, etc. In addition to his own books, the author has nearly twenty book chapters in different works. He is among the editors of the works titled Turkish Literature in the Republican Period and National Literature together with Prof. Dr. Nurullah Çetin and Prof. Dr. Fatih Sakallı.

The author also took part in a number of projects such as the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Turkish Manuscripts Catalog and Ottoman Turkish Dictionary. The author has many articles and papers on various subjects and has given many conferences in Türkiye and abroad. He was the coordinator of “Turkology Conversations” organized within the Writers Union of Türkiye between 2012-2013; Historical Novel Symposium in Istanbul Dolmabahçe Palace in 2013; “Mehmet Akif ve Gölgeler” symposium in Istanbul in December 2013, etc. He also took an active role as a manager or in other positions in social activities and social responsibility projects. The author, who worked as a lecturer and Deputy Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Karabük University between 2010-2012, is currently working as a lecturer at Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
