Prof. YAŞAR YİĞİT

He was born in Çarşamba District of Samsun Province. He completed his secondary and high school education at Çarşamba Imam Hatip High School. In 1990, he graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology.  In 1989, he started to work as Imam-Chatip in Salih Pasha Mosque affiliated to Fatih Muftiate. Between 1990-1993, he successfully completed the specialization course at the Haseki Training Center of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. In 1993, he completed his master's degree with his thesis on "The Principle of Individuality of Punishments in Islamic Criminal Law". In 1998, he completed his PhD in Uludağ University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Islamic Law with his thesis on "Enforcement of Penalties in Islamic Criminal Law". On 08.01.2001, he was appointed as an Expert to the High Board of Religious Affairs of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Between 05.4.2007-15.01.2008, he was assigned as the Counselor for Religious Services at the Embassy of Stockholm for 9 months. On 29.08.2008, he was appointed as a member of the High Council of Religious Affairs. On 14.01.2011, he was appointed as the General Directorate of Religious Services of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and served in this position until 26.12.2017. On 26.12.2018, Yiğit was appointed as a Consultant to the Prime Ministry and on 19.09.2018, he was appointed as a Consultant to the Ministry of National Education. On 16.09.2014. He became "Associate Professor" on 16.09.2014 and Professor on 21.10.2021.  On 15.09.2020, Yiğit was appointed as a lecturer at Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Islamic Sciences and he is still working in this position.   On 28.07.2022, Yiğit was appointed as the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and left his post on 26.01.2023. Yiğit was appointed as a member of the Presidency of Religious Affairs High Board of Religious Affairs as of 08.10.2025.
