Dr. Yahya Aydın graduated from Kırıkkale University's
Department of Sociology in 2010. That same year, he was awarded the YLSY
scholarship by the Ministry of National Education, which enabled him to pursue
postgraduate studies abroad on behalf of the Sociology Department of Ankara
Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Following completion of the language course and
scientific preparation processes at Istanbul University and SOAS University in
England, he proceeded to complete his master's degree in Urban History at the
University of Leicester. His thesis, entitled “The Economic and Social Aspects
of the London Docklands Society and the New Transport System of the DLR from
1976 to 1991’ “, was completed in 2014. He then proceeded to undertake doctoral
study, which was completed in 2019. His doctoral study was entitled “Location
Matters. The Role of Belonging and Place-Making among Owner-Occupiers, Tenants,
Landlords and Second Homeowners in a Neoliberal Waterfront Area: The Case of
Ocean Village, Southampton”, was completed at the Department of Sociology at
the University of Southampton in 2019.
Following his postgraduate education, he commenced
employment at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Sociology, in
2020. His research interests lie in the fields of urban sociology, housing
policies and inequalities, and urban transformation. In the 2023-2024 academic year, he continued his research at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield in England with a 12-month TÜBİTAK 2219 postdoctoral research scholarship. He subsequently resumed his duties at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University in August 2024.
