Biography
Songül Solmaz Macit is a Research Assistant at the Department of Public Finance, Faculty of Political Science, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. She completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science and Public Administration at Gazi University. She obtained her first M.A. degree in Public Finance from the Institute of Social Sciences, Gazi University in 2017 with a thesis entitled “The Transformation of Taxation Authority from the Ottoman Empire to the Present.”
She has also pursued graduate studies in Public Finance at Ankara University and in Gender and Women’s Studies at Hacettepe University. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Finance at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, where she has been working as a research assistant since 2014.
She completed her secondary education at Yükseliş College and Milli Piyango Anatolian High School.
Her doctoral research focuses on the municipal finance of late Ottoman Istanbul, exploring the relationship between urban taxation, social transformation, and the production of urban space within the framework of social and fiscal history.
