Asst. Prof. PERVİN DEMİR

Dr. Pervin Demir has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics at the Faculty of Medicine, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, since 2023, where she began her career as a Research Assistant in 2012. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara and earned her undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Science, Department of Statistics at Ankara University. After completing her undergraduate studies in the Department of Statistics at the Faculty of Science, Ankara University, she obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Biostatistics at the Faculty of Medicine at the same university.

Her master's thesis, titled "Evaluation the Factors Affecting Common Item Selection to Develop Parallel Test by Using Simulation Study" (Thesis No: 384308), focused on investigating the factors influencing the selection of the best set of common items for test equating (anchoring) in creating parallel tests from item banks with different numbers of items with dichotomous response categories.

Her doctoral thesis, titled "Developing a Common Metric for Assessment of Functioning Using Current Scales in Patients with Osteoarthritis" (Thesis No: 554406), aimed to develop a common metric from existing scales frequently used in assessing functionality in patients with osteoarthritis and to enable direct comparisons through a conversion table created with this metric.

Her academic interests include psychometric analyses, item response theory, cognitive diagnostic models, clinical research, epidemiology, method development, and multivariate analyses. She has published articles in numerous national and international scientific journals and has provided statistical consultancy for many academic theses, articles, and projects. In addition to her academic work, she teaches Biostatistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
