Biography

I have a PhD in Cognitive Science from Middle East Technical University (METU) Informatics Institute, Ankara, Turkey. Previously I have studied Mathematics (Bs.) and Sociology (M.Sc) in METU. I am a faculty member (Asst. Prof.) at the School of Management (or Business School) in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. My master thesis was about cognitive linguistics and ideology and it was the bridge to cognitive science. I had studied the emergence of communication systems (in collaborative action) in my PhD thesis. My current field of research is collective intelligence, i.e. understanding and explaining organizational behavior in the context of teams, work groups  imagined as intelligent, collective, cognitive systems, where effective cooperation and effective problem-solving ability, and the interaction patterns of team members enable them to outperform the sum of the members’ individual capacities.
