He was born in Kars. He completed his elemantary school, middle school and high school education in the same city. He graduated from the department of Turkish Language and Literature of the Faculty of Science and Letters at Cumhuriyet University in 1995. His master’s degree study was completed at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (1996-1998). He continued his doctoral program at Hacettepe University (1999-2006). He worked as a Research Assistant at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Universitesi (1996-1999) and Hacettepe University (1999-2006). He served as a faculty member-assistant professor at Hitit University in 2007-2011. In 2011 he held the title of Associate Professor in the field of Turkish Folklore. In the same year he transferred to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazit University. He was appointed as a professor in his field of science. He works at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University.
