Biography

He was born in Altındağ, Ankara, in 1991.


-He participated in call to prayer competitions at the Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in 2006-2007, representing his school. He holds first-place finishes in Ankara and national rankings.


-He graduated from Tevfik İleri Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in 2008.


-He then graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology.


-After starting the faculty, he began his musical training with his teacher Fatih Koca, from whom he took Quranic studies at the age of 7 or 8.


-He performed as a soloist in the Sufi Music choir directed by Fatih Koca, the conductor of the Ankara Faculty of Theology.


-He began playing the ney (reed flute) in 2010 and continued his ney lessons with his teacher, Fatih Koca.


-He joined the Ministry of Culture's Classical Turkish Music Youth Choir in the second semester of 2010. He began taking theory and solfege lessons from Conductor Şentürk Deveci. He serves as a soloist and ney player in this choir.


The same year, he joined the TRT Youth Choir, where he performed as a soloist for one year.


That same year, he won second place in a competition he entered in the classical music category.


In 2011, he spent one year at King Saud University in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to study Arabic.


As an artist under the Ministry of Culture, Akkuş gave concerts in Germany and Denmark, and served as a session chair and speaker at the International Turkish Music Panel in Brussels, Belgium. He then gave a Turkish Sufi Music concert with his group at the Turkish Culture Festival in Liege, Belgium.


In 2012-2013, he performed as a chorister in the TRT Ahmet Hatipoğlu Sufi Music Choir.


In 2014, he completed his memorization of the Quran at the Büyükağa Madrasa in Amasya, the Ministry of Religious Affairs.


Between 2013 and 2015, he worked as a vocalist on the program "Bad-ı Saba" on TRT Diyanet TV.


Between 2015 and 2017, he worked as a vocalist on the program "Waiting for Iftar" on TRT Diyanet TV.


The Presidency of Religious Affairs also performed Sufi Music concerts in the Netherlands and Germany on the occasion of the Holy Birth Week.


He performed as a hymn singer on special Kandil programs on many channels, especially TRT 1.


He also performed concerts on TRT Music.


He also serves as a guest artist in the Presidency of Religious Affairs Sufi Music Choir.


He completed his master's degree, "Kani Karaca's Life, Works, and Contributions to Turkish Religious Music," at Cumhuriyet University's Faculty of Theology in 2018, and his doctorate, "Turkish Religious Music Tradition in Surgery and the Cultural Continuity of Tekke Music," in 2021.


His album, "Zikr-i Dâim," is available on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, iTunes Music, and Fizy.


He has given concerts in many countries, including Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Kosovo, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, and Jordan, as well as in many cities, including Istanbul, Ankara, Konya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Balıkesir, Antalya, and Izmir.
