Biography

K. Bahar Aydın is a Associate Professor of Psychology at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Ankara, Türkiye. She has a Ph.D. in Psychological Counseling and Guidance from University of Ankara, and did postdoctoral study at Georgia State University in America.

In her studies, she argues that there is a need for systematic psychological counseling for single individuals. Based on this idea, she put forward the Singles Counseling Theory (SCT), and wrote the book Bekâr Danışmanlığı: Hayata Hazırlar (Singles Counseling: Prepares for Life). She initiated and taught the Singles Counseling course in graduate programs at the university where she works. She wrote many articles and presented papers on Singles Counseling at national and international levels. She founded and is the chair of the Singles Counseling Association-SCA (Bekâr Danışmanlığı Derneği-BEDAD.

She also is a member of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology.  And she also is author of Coping with Stress (2010), Social Support: Necessary For Everybody (2022), and Psychological Scales: Cross-Cultural (2023). She has traveled to 8 countries (United States of America, Canada, South Africa, France, Greece, Croatia, North Cyprus, South Cyprus) for her academic studies.
