Res. Asst. HAYRİYE ÖZLEM SÜRER

Hayriye Özlem Sürer was born in Sinop in 1995. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology in 2018. In 2020, she completed her master's degree, defending her thesis titled "The Nestorian Metropolitan Elias of Nisibis' Understanding of Monotheistic Trinity" under the supervision of Professor Doctor İsmail Taşpınar at Marmara University. In the same year, she commenced her Ph.D. program in the History of Religions at Marmara University.

In 2021, she was appointed as a Research Assistant at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Theology, Department of History of Religions. Subsequently, she transferred to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences Ph.D. program.

Hayriye Özlem Sürer is proficient in English and Arabic. Also she is learning classical Syriac. Her research interests encompass various topics including the Church of the East (Nestorian Church), the Syriac Church, Syriac mysticism, Arab Christians, Muslim-Christian polemics, early Christological debates, and apologetics literature.

Currently, under the supervision of Associate Professor Doctor Rahim Ay, she is pursuing her doctoral dissertation on the understanding of the Christology of Mar Babai the Great, one of the theologians of the Church of the East.
