Biography
Assoc. Dr. Dilek
Altun was born on April 9, 1984, in Kayseri. She graduated with first-class
honors and a bachelor’s degree in classroom teaching from Gazi University in 2008.
She completed her master’s and Ph.D. education at the Middle East Technical
University Social Sciences Institute Primary Education Program – Early
Childhood Education in 2013 and 2016, respectively, with 4.00/4.00 under the
supervision of Prof. Dr. Feyza Tantekin Erden. During her graduate education,
she received TUBITAK 2210-2211 master’s and doctorate scholarships. She was a
visiting researcher at Michigan State University (MSU) and Harvard University
with a scholarship during the pre-graduate thesis phase. Prof. Dr. Douglas
Hartman (MSU) co-supervised her master’s thesis. She carried out her doctoral
thesis under the co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Catherine E. Snow (Harvard Unv.).
In 2017, Dr. Altun was appointed as an assistant professor at Kırşehir Ahi
Evran University, Department of Basic Education, Department of Preschool. In
2019, she received the title of Associate Professor from the Inter-University
Council (UAK). She was appointed to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Child
Development Department, with the title of associate professor in 2020. As part
of the TUBITAK 2219 Post-Doctoral Research Program, she began to study in the
research group at Harvard University Graduate School of Education under the
supervision of Catherine E. Snow.
