Biography
Dr. Yesilata is a professor and a senior researcher on renewable energy use, particularly on
solar energy technologies. His general professional experience in mechanical engineering
related sectors is nearly 30 years; nearly 20 years of which is on solar energy systems,
mostly on photovoltaic (PV) powered applications and solar heating-cooling. His research
interests include also energy efficiency measures for buildings and industry. He has about
7 years of international experience in USA, dealing with strong academic and research
activities, including his Ph.D. education.
He has consulted to several private companies and government bodies on solar energy
implementation strategies. He also consulted to UNDP-Turkey between 2009-2016; for a long-term renewable energy and energy efficiency strategies and corresponding policies to be empowered in the GAP (Southeastern Project) Region of Turkey. He worked with the GIZ between 2019-2023 as a component coordinator of the project titled ‘Technical Assistance for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Support for the Municipalities and Universities’.
Dr. Yesilata is founder and founding director of the GAP Renewable Energy and Energy
Efficiency R&D Center at Harran University. He is associate editor of the Solar Energy
Journal, published by Elsevier.
