Prof. BÜLENT AKOT

  He  graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology (2002). He completed his master's degree in the Department of Religious Psychology at Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences (2005). He completed his doctorate in the Department of Sufism at the same institute (2010). He worked as a Religious Culture Teacher within the Ministry of National Education (2005-2010).

     He worked as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Bitlis Eren University (2010-2014). Between 2010 and 2013, he also served in administrative positions at the same university, including Director of the School of Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Sociology, Head of the Department, and Member of the Senate.

     Since February 2014, he has been working at the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, in the Department of Sufism. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the field of Sufism in 2015. On February 2, 2021, he was awarded the title of Professor in the Department of Sufism and continues his work. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at AYBÜ. Between 2021 and 2024, he also served as the Senate Representative of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at AYBÜ. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Sufism.

Since February 2014, he has been working at the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, in the field of Sufism. In 2015, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the field of Sufism. On February 2, 2021, he was promoted to Professor in the Department of Sufism and continues his work. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at AYBÜ. Between 2021 and 2024, he also served as the Senate Representative of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at AYBÜ. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Sufism.

His academic fields of study are Sufism, Psychology, and Sociology. In the 2017-2018 academic year, he taught the course on the Teaching of Religious Culture and Ethics at the Department of Classroom Teaching at Hacettepe University's Faculty of Education. The author, who is fluent in Arabic and English, has 95 international publications, including 57 book editorships, 13 original and translated books, and 25 international articles and presentations. He also holds one patent. Additionally, he has 238 (approximately 2,000 minutes) of video publications related to his field.

Among his recent publications is Derviş Sözlük (Dervish Dictionary), published by Gazi Kitabevi. He is also the editor of the 34-volume Kavram Atlası Külliyatı (Concept Atlas Collection) project, carried out under the auspices of Gazi Kitabevi, and the author of Tasavvuf I and Tasavvuf II (Sufism I and Sufism II). He continues his academic work at the same faculty. He is married and has two children.
