Prof. BÜLENT AKOT

Biography

He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology (2002). He completed his master's degree in the Department of Psychology of Religion at Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences (2005). He completed his doctorate in Sufism at the same institute (2010). He worked as a Religious Culture Teacher in the Ministry of National Education (2005-2010). He worked as a faculty member in the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Bitlis Eren University (2010-2014). He also served as the Director of the Vocational School of Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Sociology, Head of the Department and Member of the Senate between 2010-2013 at the same University. Since February 2014, he has been working at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Department of Sufism. He received the title of Associate Professor in the field of Sufism in 2015. He continues his studies by taking the title of Professor in the Department of Sufism on February 02, 2021. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at AYBU and the Head of the Department of Sufism. He is currently serving as the Senate Representative. His academic fields of study are Sufism, Psychology and Sociology. In the 2017-2018 academic year, he taught Religious Culture and Ethics Teaching at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching. The author, who speaks Arabic and English, has published many national and international articles and papers related to his field, as well as copyrighted and translated works such as Müştak-ı Bitlisî, Halil-i Siirdî, 100 of Sufism and 200 of Sufism. He also edited 23 books on concepts. Among his recent publications is Dervish Dictionary published by Gazi Publishing House. He is both the editor and the author of Sufism I and Sufism II, as well as the editor of the project called Concept Atlas A Collection of 34 books, which is currently carried out under the roof of Gazi Publishing House.
