Asst. Prof. YELDA ÖZEN

Yelda Özen graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology, in 1997. In 1998, she began to work as a research assistant at Ankara University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Health Education. She completed her master's degree at METU Institute of Social Sciences, Sociology program, in 2000. She completed her doctoral thesis on the health experiences of the urban poor in the sociology program of the same university and graduated from the doctoral program in 2008. Then she worked as an assistant professor at Çankırı Karatekin University, Department of Sociology, between 2009 and 2011. Since 2011, she has worked as a faculty member in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology. Between 2012 and 2013, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of York in the UK for one year. Her research interests include sociology of health and illness, sociology of the body, ageing studies, sociology of migration, and rural change.
