Özet:
Fuel cells are one of the leading energy conversion technologies of recent years due to their high energy densities, silent operation and environmental aspects. Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell (FC) has been used more widely in the fuel cell market, which has been increasing every year in the world, thanks to its high efficiency at low temperatures and fast start up.Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have recently become widespread in civil and military areas. Mini UAVs up to 10 kg are usually operated with battery therefore have limited duty times. If a light weight fuel cell stack can be developed, PEM-FC system can possibly increase the endurance to 3 times. In this respect within the scope of the thesis study, an innovative flow field was designed and electrochemical and flow analyzes of this flow field were performed. Then, the suitability of this flow field design was numerically studied, considering the transfer of this design to 0.1 mm thick metal (stainless steel, titanium, aluminum) flow plates via stamping. According to the results obtained, a significant decrease in weight and volume was achieved compared to the commercial products in the market.
