Özet
This chapter explores the evolving competitive landscape of digital platforms in Türkiye, a country characterized by a burgeoning digital economy. Utilizing a conceptual framework grounded in within- and cross-country network externalities, this chapter examines the evolving ownership of local digital platforms and various industry-specific cases in Türkiye, including music and video streaming, food delivery, and classified advertising. Empirical evidence substantiates four key hypotheses regarding how local and global digital platforms interact and compete. The chapter reveals that while local platforms dominate markets characterized by within-country network externalities, global platforms effectively leverage cross-country network externalities. This chapter provides theoretical and practical insights into digital platform competition.
