One of the most important concepts that M. Foucault brought to the social sciences literature is biopolitics. Biopolitics is a surveillance system that produces itself in many areas of social life, such as security, health, fashion, hygiene, virtual living spaces, sexuality, and can transform this production process into a natural, fluid and desirable voluntarism policy. The phenomenon of biopolitics has emerged with modernization and has created quite radical effects on the administrative processes of the society. According to Foucault, the most effective way to control the society is to watch it constantly. This surveillance process also means the reshaping and production of the social structure. When we look at the studies on biopolitics, it is generally seen that they focus on theoretical issues such as power, domination, body, discipline and capitalism. This study aims to consider the self- reproduction of biopolitics in the context of new media technologies and to study biopolitics through new media technologies. In the study, the role of new media technologies on the way to the anonymization of biopolitics will be discussed through some areas such as surveillance, loss of privacy and consent.
M. Foucault’un sosyal bilimler literatürüne kazandırdığı en önemli kavramlardan biri de biyopolitikadır. Biyopolitika, toplumsal yaşamın güvenlik, sağlık, moda, hijyen, sanal yaşam alanları, cinsellik vb. birçok alanında kendini üreten ve bu üretim sürecini de doğal, akışkan ve arzu edile(bile)n bir gönüllülük politikasına dönüştürebilen bir gözetim sistemidir. Biyopolitika olgusu modernleşmeyle birlikte ortaya çıkmış ve toplumun yönetimsel süreçlerinde oldukça radikal etkiler yaratmıştır. Foucault’a göre toplumu kontrol edebilmenin en etkin yolu onu sürekli olarak gözetlemektir. Bu gözetim süreci aynı zamanda toplumsal yapının yeniden şekillenmesi ve üretimi anlamına gelmektedir. Biyopolitika ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalara bakıldığında genel olarak iktidar, tahakküm, beden, disiplin ve kapitalizm gibi teorik konulara odaklandıkları görülmektedir. Bu çalışma, biyopolitikanın kendini yeniden üretmesini yeni medya teknolojileri bağlamında ele almayı ve biyopolitikayı yeni medya teknolojileri üzerinden okumayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma da biyopolitikanın anonimleşmesine giden yolda yeni medya teknolojilerinin rolü, gözetim/gözetleme, mahremiyet kaybı ve rıza gösterme gibi başlıklar üzerinden ele alınacaktır.
