Abstract

In an ever-digitalizing world, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry cannot resist the change. The industry has benefited from digital tools in various ways, particularly following the widespread use of computers. While it is a frequently used technology in several other fields, eye tracking technology has mostly been overlooked by AEC theorists and practitioners. This study investigates the existing literature on the use of eye tracking technology in AEC related studies and discusses further adaptations. It aims to shed light on the topic to bring more attention from the academia and the industry to the subject. In this study the technology is briefly introduced, the literature is reviewed, categorized and analyzed. Finally, potential of eye tracking technology as a scientific tool in AEC related studies and construction practice is discussed.
