Abstract: Illumination art holds a significant position within Islamic arts, drawing attention throughout history with its aesthetic and decorative values. Traditionally used in the ornamentation of manuscripts, calligraphy, and the Qur'an, this art form is of great importance not only for its aesthetic values but also as a historical and cultural heritage. Today, illumination art plays a crucial role in art and design education, providing students with technical skills as well as opportunities to establish cultural connections. Illumination art encompasses fundamental design principles such as symmetry, balance, rhythm, and harmony. These principles are also foundational in modern design education. The study and application of illumination art offer students the chance to grasp these fundamental principles and integrate them into their own designs. In this study, the historical development, techniques, and aesthetic understanding of traditional illumination art are examined, and how it can be evaluated in the context of contemporary art and design is explored. The importance of illumination art in education extends beyond imparting aesthetic and technical knowledge to students, serving also to preserve and carry forward cultural heritage. Furthermore, it is expected that illumination art, when integrated with other art and design disciplines through interdisciplinary approaches, will provide students with a broad perspective. The use of illumination motifs in fields such as architecture, fashion design, and graphic design offers opportunities for creating creative and original designs. In this context, the integration of illumination art with modern educational methods can be achieved through traditional workshop practices, digital design, and interdisciplinary approaches. This study emphasizes the importance of this integration and the broader and more effective use of illumination art in art and design education. Özet: Tezhip sanatı, İslam sanatları içerisinde önemli bir konuma sahip olup, tarih boyunca estetik ve dekoratif değerleriyle dikkat çekmiştir. Geleneksel olarak el yazması kitapların, hat sanatının ve Kur'an-ı Kerim'in süslenmesinde kullanılan bu sanat dalı, estetik değerlerinin yanı sıra tarihî ve kültürel bir miras olarak da büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Günümüzde, sanat ve tasarım eğitimi alanında önemli bir rol oynayan tezhip sanatı, öğrencilere hem teknik beceriler kazandırmakta hem de kültürel bağlar kurma fırsatı sunmaktadır. Tezhip sanatı, simetri, denge, ritim ve harmoni gibi temel tasarım prensiplerini barındırır. Bu prensipler, modern tasarım eğitiminde de kritik öneme sahiptir. Tezhip sanatının incelenmesi ve uygulanması, öğrencilere bu temel prensipleri kavrama ve kendi tasarımlarına entegre etme imkânı sağlar. Bu çalışmada, geleneksel tezhip sanatının tarihsel gelişimi, teknikleri ve estetik anlayışı ele alınarak, günümüz sanat ve tasarım bağlamında nasıl değerlendirilebileceği incelenmiştir. Tezhip sanatının eğitimdeki önemi, öğrencilere estetik ve teknik bilgi kazandırmanın ötesinde, kültürel mirasın yaşatılması ve geleceğe taşınması açısından da büyük bir değere sahiptir. Ayrıca, tezhip sanatının disiplinlerarası yaklaşımlarla diğer sanat ve tasarım disiplinleriyle entegre edilerek, öğrencilere geniş bir perspektif sunması beklenmektedir. Mimarlık, moda tasarımı, grafik tasarım gibi alanlarda tezhip motiflerinin kullanımı ile yaratıcı ve özgün tasarımlar oluşturma imkânı sağlanacaktır. Bu bağlamda, tezhip sanatının modern eğitim yöntemleriyle entegrasyonu, geleneksel atölye çalışmaları, dijital tasarım ve disiplinlerarası yaklaşımlar ile gerçekleştirilebilir. Bu çalışmada, bu entegrasyonun ve tezhip sanatının sanat ve tasarım eğitiminde daha yaygın ve etkin kullanılmasının önemi vurgulanmıştır.
