Abstract

Boron is a important element and is not found in nature alone, but in compounds with other elements. Boron has a wide range of uses in modern technology, from the defence industry to the pharmaceutical industry, from cleaning agents to the nuclear industry. This important and indispensable position of boron will increasingly continue in the future. In this study, the boron, world and Turkey is extremely important for many industrial structure, provides information on the electrical and technical specifications. In addition, in this study, the formation of hexagonal boron nitride as a result of the reaction of boron oxide with carbon and nitrogen was investigated. Hexagonal boron nitride was obtained as a result of sintering the carbon mixtures activated with boron oxide under nitrogen atmosphere at 1500 oC for 120 minutes. In order to determine the purity, morphological structures and electrical properties of the hexagonal boron nitrides produced, the processes characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, optical measurements, vector network spectrum analysis and particle size analysis were performed. The dielectric values obtained as a result of vector network spectrum analysis of all samples were found to be below the constant value of εr ≤ 25. As seen in the 0.5x1010 Hz, it was revealed that all samples reached a good absorption. With the samples obtained as a result of all the characterization processes, it was concluded that the defense industry can be used as a substrate material in applications such as high-frequency radar material, signal interrupter, microwave antenna circuit elements, missile tracking systems and microwave circuits.
