Özet

This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping formative assessment in language education through a shift from retrospective feedback toward forward-oriented feedforward. Drawing on formative assessment, self-regulated learning, and feedback literacy research, it explores how AI-driven systems can generate timely, individualized guidance that supports learners in planning, monitoring, and revising their work across tasks. AI is situated within a sociocultural understanding of learning and conceptualized as a scaffold that operates alongside teachers rather than as a replacement for professional judgement. The chapter addresses pedagogical and ethical challenges related to automation, trust, equity, and algorithmic bias, with particular attention to language-specific concerns. Practical recommendations are presented for integrating AI within hybrid feedback models that preserve dialogue, strengthen feedback literacy, and sustain formative assessment as a genuinely developmental practice.
