The aim of this study is to determine the structural features and differences of Eastern politics,
which is depicted in the Devlet Ana novel based on the narrative of the establishment of the Ottoman State. While achieving this goal, we will try to give answers to several questions as: Had
the Ottoman state a unique style of politics? Can the founding energy be found in the community
or in certain individuals? Is the spread of the Ottoman Principality related to tribal or religious selfishness? Can we mention a heritage relationship or continuity between the Seljuks and the Ottomans? Where does the Ottoman State get its legitimacy both at doesmtic and international levels?
To what extent are collective memories, custom and mythological elements involve? How is the
Ottoman political structure and on what values was it built? What are the features that differentiate
the Ottoman Empire from the other states? How was the state-human relationship grounded?
The study includes the subheadings as state, Ottoman-Seljuk relationship, lineage, custom, social
groups (dervishes and ahîs), sources of knowledge (dream, fortune-telling), political legitimacy,
religion-politics relationship and Asian Type Production Style. Analysing the ideology or worldview
of the author in the context of these titles is among the sub-objectives of the study.
