Özet
2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation relies on an updated seismic hazard map. This study examines the difference between new seismic hazard map and its predecessor using Acceleration Spectrum Intensity (ASI) as a metric. This metric is based on the comparison of the area under acceleration spectrum calculated for characteristic building period for different soil types. For this purpose, the 475-year earthquake values are used for regularly-spaced grid points covering Turkey. The elastic spectra are formed according to 2007 and 2018 regulations for each point and ASI are calculated. Contours displaying the ratio of current and earlier spectral intensity show how hazard has changed countrywide. It is possible to quantify the economic implications of the updated map and its safety dimension.
