In the present paper, implementation of DC motor driver based on dsPIC30f series microcontrollers for speed control of DC motor has been investigated. The H bridge circuit is designed for driving DC motor, controlling the DC motor speed and the rotating side. The H bridge driver circuit created with MOSFETs and controlled with 1 kHz PWM signal. Motor speed is adjusted directly with PWM signal duty cycle. While changing duty cycle of PWM signal the motor terminal voltage also changed by means of duty raito. In addition to the previous studies which are related to the DC motor speed estimation. The study has originality in detecting the DC motor speed using a recomended sensorless method. The sensorless methods can be gathered into two main topics which are based on the dynamic model, and based on the ripple component. This paper proposes a technique that measures the back EMF (electro motor force) voltage value of brushed DC motors and determine the speed of DC motors. Any sensor or encoder is not used to determine the speed rate. Also, the designed DC motor driver is robust about high power application andshort circuit events. The DC motor can be protected in short circuit conditions by means of using current sensor.
