Özet
A novel hardware/software co-design of a portable and low-cost electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor for use in the primary care, educational, and developing world settings is described in this contribution. The system is based on ESP32 microcontroller along with AD8232 analog front-end sensor to acquire single-lead ECG signals using three surface electrodes. The multimodal realtime feedback integrated in the hardware consists of green/yellow/red LEDs, an active buzzer and a 0.96 inch OLED display which presents system status, raw ADC values, and classification results. Developed in Python, the proprietary desktop application allows for real time visualization of the ECG waveform, heart rate computation and communication with the pretrained Random Forest model to perform automatic normal/abnormal classification. Moreover, the software allows CSV data export, saving in high resolution images and it also contains a virtual ECG generator for didactic objectives. The system was clinically tested on 10 human subjects at the Alkhoms Medical Center. In controlled environment, RHYTHMIQ had 90% diagnostic concordance with a hospital-grade 12-lead ECG machine. The single discrepancy was due to patient motion and electromagnetic interference with the presence of a mobile phone in the vicinity, both preventable with adequate patient preparation and refined hardware design. In contrast to the state-of-the-art low-cost ESP32/AD8232 based systems presented in 2024-2025, RHYTHMIQ is the only solution that provides on-device multimodal feedback, open-architecture data logging (CSV/image), a virtual ECG generator, and direct clinical evaluation using a gold-standard device. The main limitation is the breadboard prototype is noise prone; a custom printed circuit board is the most urgent future work. With a parts cost of approximately 20-25 USD, RHYTHMIQ demonstrates that truly low-cost portable platforms can achieve clinically meaningful performance.
