Adverse childhood experiences; although it is one of the main social determinants of physiological, sociological and psychological health, it forms the basis for the risks of engaging in health-hazardous behaviors in the later years of life. In this study, it was aimed to examine the adverse childhood experiences of individuals who grew up under the protection of the state in their pre-institutional care lives. The study group of the research consists of 10 adults who spent a period of their childhood growing up in a state-protected institution. The stories of the individuals about their pre-institutional care experiences were expressed in in-depth interviews using structured and semi- structured interview forms. The data is in line with content analysis using the Maxqda Analytics Pro 2020 program; grouped under the themes of "domestic dysfunction, neglect and abuse". It was found that the individuals participating in the study had at least one adverse childhood experience prior to their experience in institutional care, during the time they spent with their caregivers. Adverse childhood experiences of the participants, especially; Although it focuses on socioeconomic problems, emotional neglect and emotional abuse, it has been concluded that individuals are also exposed to other household dysfunctions, educational and physical neglect, and sexual and physical abuse.
Olumsuz çocukluk çağı deneyimleri; fizyolojik, sosyolojik ve psikolojik sağlığın temel sosyal belirleyicilerinden biri olmakla birlikte, yaşamın ilerleyen yıllarında sağlık açısından tehlikeli davranışlarda bulunma risklerine temel oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada, devlet koruması altında büyüyen bireylerin, kurum bakımı öncesi yaşantılarındaki olumsuz çocukluk çağı deneyimlerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, çocukluğunun bir dönemini devlet koruması altındaki kurumda büyüyerek geçiren 10 yetişkin oluşturmaktadır. Bireylerin kurum bakımı öncesi yaşantılarına ilişkin hikâyeleri, yapılandırılmış ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları kullanılarak derinlemesine görüşmelerde ifade edilmiştir. Veriler, Maxqda Analytics Pro 2020 programı kullanılarak içerik analizi doğrultusunda; “hane içi işlev bozukluğu, ihmal ve istismar” temaları altında gruplandırılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan bireylerin kurum bakımındaki deneyimlerinin öncesinde, kendisine bakım verenlerle birlikte geçirdiği zamanlarda en az bir olumsuz çocukluk çağı deneyimine sahip olduğu bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların, olumsuz çocukluk çağı deneyimleri başta; sosyoekonomik problemler, duygusal ihmal ve duygusal istismar üzerine yoğunlaşsa da bireylerin, diğer hane içi işlev bozukluklarına, eğitimsel ve fiziksel ihmal ile cinsel ve fiziksel istismara da maruz kaldıkları sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
