Özet
The Terceme-i Sevahidu’n-Nubuvve work of Ahi-zade, a scholar, poet, munsi artist and calligrapher of the 17th century classical Turkish literature, is the translation of the work Sevahidu’n-Nubuvve of the Persian poet and scholar Abdurrahman Molla Cami, discussing prophecy evidences of prophet Mohammad. Having an important position in the 17th century prose tradition, the work is stylistically an interesting translation in which it is possible to see the traces of Ahi-zade’s interpreter, mudarris, and calligrapher identity. The artist gained a wide accumulation of knowledge as a result of dealing with different professions and thus included his rich vocabulary in his work. Ahi-zade established domination over words, frequently used the classical rhyme structure, as well as a rhyme type that is also called as internal rhyme, punned rhymes, derived phrases and conjunctions, and gathered homonymic and synonymous words with a great skill. His rhythmic and reduplicated articulation, frequent use of alliterations and assonances and successful use of many figures of speech and meaning that are accepted to be specific to verse such as simile, contrast, editing and kalb, can be assessed as Ahi-zade’s stylistic characteristics. Internal rhyme which is the basic element of harmony in Ahi-zade’s work, is the most original quality of his style. This important element of harmony has been neglected by researchers in prose studies. In the study, Ahî-zade’s prose style was assessed within the context of rhyme, internal rhyme, literary arts and certain stylistic characteristics specific to his prose and it was attempted to determine his place in the 17th century prose.
