Abstract

Software-defined networking (SDN) has been developed as a new network paradigm using software-enabled control for handling network dynamics. Furthermore, the isolation of the control and data planes allows for programmability as well as centralized network infrastructure control. The SDN architecture simplifies network management. Additionally, it boosts the rate of employing advanced network applications. Even though SDN supports many advanced network applications, security has become a major concern which includes innovative methods to identify and respond to risks, and prevent, along with inventive security services and applications that are based on SDN competence. We believe SDN gives new study prospects opportunities for security, and this could largely affect network security research in various ways. However, till today, SDN has not been well recognized by the corporate security community yet. In this study, we reviewed the various approaches presented by recent researchers who employ SDN for corporate security and forensics compliances purposes. Moreover, several security frameworks for SDN are examined and find bright future pathways which could be adopted by the corporate sector by that kind of research.
