Özet
For Algeria, the emergence of SMEs was affected by both institutional and economic factors. These latter as well as other internal and external factors that have advocated a strong motivation about the integration of a strategic management and culture philosophy within these types of small medium-sized enterprises in order to implement suitable strategies. In one hand, this study explained the impact of both strategic management and culture on SMEs performance. But more specifically, it determined the ultimate causing indicator of SME performance. On the other hand, as regards to strategic management this study focused mainly on the implementation and formulation strategies. For that, a number of 152 SMEs from different companies located on the west of Algeria (Oran, Mostaghanem) were chosen as a case study for this investigation. Questionnaires analyses were employed for the data collection. As a result, culture appeared as the dominant factor affecting the performance of SMEs. The study revealed that the performance of SMEs was obstructed by SMEs culture and other dimensions of strategic management (formulation and implementation). This research concludes with recommendations and selected implications for future practical and theoretical researches.
