Abstract

© 2022 IEEE.In this study, two different approaches, Prony's and Pisarenko, are presented to estimate the frequencies of two simultaneous signals in a digital instantaneous frequency measurement (DIFM) receiver. Both approaches use the assumption that the autocorrelation involved in determining the frequencies of two simultaneous signals is produced by the DIFM receiver. In addition, they are extensively compared at different bandwidths, different noise and variances, and their estimation performances are analyzed. According to the observed results, the Prony's method yields more accurate estimates than Pisarenko as both the variance of the applied noises and the bandwidth of the frequencies to be measured increase.
