Özet

Choristoma is defined as the presence of histologically normal tissue in an abnormal location. Cartilaginous choristomas are rarely seen in the oral cavity, more commonly occurring on the tongue, whereas they are very rarely encountered in the tonsil. We present a case of a 21-year-old male patient who underwent tonsillectomy for recurrent tonsillitis and was subsequently diagnosed with cartilaginous choristoma upon histopathological examination, characterized by a mature hyaline cartilage island surrounded by lymphoid follicles. This case highlights the importance of raising awareness about this rare pathology in the tonsil and emphasizes the significance of routine histopathological examination of tonsillectomy specimens.
