Abstract

In this paper, we develop boundary controllers for a cantilevered Euler-Bernoulli beam with point-mass dynamics at the free end. Specifically, we develop an exact model knowledge controller which exponentially stabilizes the beam displacement and an adaptive controller which asymptotically stabilizes the beam displacement. Experimental results are utilized to validate the performance of the controllers. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
