Abstract

Databases form the common component of many software systems. However, performance models specifically targeted at the database design have not been extensively studied. In this paper, we validate a queueing network performance evaluation model for database designs. We compare a queueing network model of the database design of an implementation of the TPC-C benchmark against measured system results. Experimental evaluation showed that the database design queueing network model was able to capture the steady state performance of the measured system. © 2009 IEEE.
