Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) is a reliable test which is used to determine the severity of symptoms in patients with tinnitus and for patient follow-up. Three subscales have been defined for THI as functional (THI-F), emotional (THI-E) and catastrophic (THI-C). The aim of our study was determine if THI is affected by the hearing thresholds or not and the relationship between hearing thresholds and THI subscales. The pure tone audiometry, tympanometry and THI in the 100 patients complaining of tinnitus for at least 3 months have been performed. The relationship between pure tone average and THI- THI subsales was assessed. There was a statistically significant correlation of left ear pure tone average with THI, THI-F, and THI-E (p<0,05). The right ear advantage has been showed. The THI is affected by hearing thersholds. The hearing thresholds have a significant correlation with functional and emotional subscales of THI.
