Özet
While globalisation has reshaped transportation both online and offline, port cities still retain their location-based role. This research examines the factors that influence people’s preferences regarding visiting or living in a port city. For the purposes of this study, the city of Antalya, situated in southwestern Türkiye, will serve as a case study area. As a Mediterranean port city, Antalya has long been a popular destination for both local and international visitors. The growth of its tourism sector has played a significant role in the city’s development, with Antalya now primarily serving as a yacht and marina port. Furthermore, this city has emerged as a highly sought-after destination for international home buyers over the past decade. Based on various factors, including investment, escape from conflict, lifestyle migration, and second home, Antalya has emerged as a preferred destination over other port cities in Türkiye. After analysing this trend according to official statistics, this chapter will discuss the underlying motivations behind this choice. This research will elucidate the manner in which a port city, hitherto a tourist destination, has become a location for the production of homes for non-local residents.
