Özet
Gratitude is defined as part of a broad life orientation towards recognizing and appreciating the positive in the world. Gratitude, an experience of appreciating positive aspects in life, has been associated with increased subjective well-being. Although the relationship of the Acceptance and Commitment Model with psychological well-being has been investigated, it is currently unknown whether the psychological well-being and ACT model can affect attention bias towards positive stimuli and surrounding events. Attention bias is the tendency to selectively participate in threatening information or interpret ambiguous information in a threatening way. Attentional bias has been only investigated in the field of anxiety, depression and social anxiety. In this study, the role of gratitude in attentional bias and Acceptance and Commitment Model was examined.. Attentional bias was measured by Emotional Stroop task with positive, negative and neutral words. The data of 46 participants were collected through the Acceptance and Commitment Model questionnaires, Gratitude Scale, and State and Trait Anxiety Inventory. According to the findings of the study, a negative correlation was found between the total scores of the Gratitude Scale and a negative correlation was found between the positive interference scores, negative interference scores and the Gratitude for Little Things scores, which is the sub-dimension of the Gratitude Scale. The results shaped by the findings obtained from the research; gratitude levels and attention bias towards emotional stimulus were not found. Only acceptance and action values and attention bias towards negative stimuli were found within the scope of ACT. The results of the study do not confirm the hypothesis that the level of gratitude may be associated with attention bias to positive stimuli. Therefore, it is thought that the feeling of gratitude does not match with negative emotions and there may be a reason why gratitude is defined as its ability to quickly adapt to both positive and negative events. Therefore, suggestions are presented within this scope.
