Özet

Beyond Self: E-portfolios & Ecological L2 Motivation
The traditional self-system model of motivation has been challenged due to its self-contained nature (MacIntyre, 2022), advocating for a self-regulatory system that considers broader ecological influences that encourage learners to see themselves as part of a larger interconnected web (Henry & Liu, 2023; Hiver & Larsen-Freeman, 2020; Reinders & Benson, 2017; Papi & Hiver, 2020; Al-Hoorie, Hiver, Kim, & De Costa, 2021). To this end, in the current study, an e-portfolio project was implemented, prompting students to reflect on learning experiences, future goals, social interactions, and beliefs associated with the L2 community. This aimed to foster self-evaluation beyond self-perception, encompassing a wider range of factors affecting motivation. The e-portfolio served as a platform for documenting experiences across various learning contexts, not just the classroom and the intervention aimed to empower students with a deeper understanding of their L2 motivational drivers, promoting goal setting and progress tracking for improved learning outcomes.
