Özet
The site amplification factors (FS and F1 for short and long periods, respectively) of Turkish Earthquake Building Code (TEBC-2018) are proposed to integrate the site effects with the Turkish design spectrum for reference condition of VS = 760 m/s. These factors were produced using the ground motion dataset that are dominated by site conditions of Western United States, and thus should be compared with either empirical-based or simulated amplification values for Turkey. Within the scope of this study, İzmir and Kocaeli, which are among the seismically active regions of Turkey, were selected to perform large-scale one-dimensional (1D) site response simulations to develop simulation-based site amplification models for these cities. This paper presents the compilation of soil characteristics (e.g., shear wave velocity, VS) from various sources to generate a VS profile database, which is the first step of the large-scale site response analysis study. Moreover, the site locations which will be archived through geographical information system (GIS) software (e.g., QGIS), and the corresponding soil properties required for simulations will be associated with each VS profile. The expected outcome such as site factors and/or amplification models conditioned on site (e.g. VS30) and motion (PGA at rock) attributes are thought to inform the future FS and F1 values of TEBC.
