In this study, thermo-economic analysis and optimization of an absorption system using heat source at relatively low temperature are performed, by the method of Coefficient of Structural Bonds. As a result of the thermo economic optimization, the optimum heat transfer areas are calculated for the evaporator, absorber, condenser and generator. The total irreversibility of the system as compared to the original design case is reduced by 72.5 %. The payback period of the extra investment required by the optimization is found to be 4.2 years.
