Abstract

The results presented in this paper indicate that a dynamic model of A/K gait can be developed and used to investigate how specific prosthesis components contribute to gait mechanics. The specific contributions of this paper are: a kinematic and dynamic model of the amputee/prosthesis system including the SACH foot; the effect that SACH foot geometry and compliance have on gait mechanics; the identification of inputs (i. e. , hip moment and sound leg force) to the amputee/prosthesis model that represent actions of the amputee; and a simple inverse dynamic model for calculating the sound leg force.
