The mission of founding Religious Studies Index of Turkey is entrusted to Cumhuriyet University Religious Sciences Research and Application Center (DIMER) via 02/06/2017 date and 30084 number enactment. Religious Studies Index of Turkey that will serve online encompasses all academic journal articles written in the field of theology and religious studies and passed referee evaluation successfully. The Index is going to be constructed as a database containing bibliographic information of journals and issues that are already included in the system. In this way, it will be possible to calculate the impact factor of the journals and the number of citations that the articles get. Internet users will be able to use simple and advanced search applications, list the search results, and download or request being sent with e-mail anything chosen from the results. As well as the facilities mentioned here, the others who registered in the Index as a member will be able to save the search results in their own user accounts. When an article recorded in the database is referred by anyone, the author, who is registered, will receive an automatic alert e-mail to inform about the citation. Moreover, the Index will contain statistical information of authors, universities, journals and articles, so that it will be possible to display the articles, their number of views, downloads, and citations gotten; on the institutional basis the number of authors who work in that institution, the total number of articles published by the members of that institution, and the number of citations gotten by those articles; and on the journal basis the number of published articles, and their number of views, downloads, and citations. At the beginning the Index is planned to contain 150 journals and data that belongs to the articles of these journals. Furthermore, it is thought that each of these journals publish 4 issues each year, 10 articles in each issue, 30 pages for each article, and 20-years archive that each journal has. Therefore, the Index will have 600 issues, 6000 data and pdf files of articles, and 180.000 pages each year. Having uploaded 20-years archive of each journal, the Index will provide a database in which 12.000 issues, 120.000 metadata/pdf files, and 3.600.000 page article texts can be found and searched quickly. For the achievement of The National Theology Field Index a text mining procedure that is a modern text analysis method will be applied. In this respect, the article title data can be separated morphologically, density of words in abstracts and texts can be calculated, and keywords can be analyzed and saved in the databased. The terms used in indexes can be gathered from the text of articles automatically through statistical methods. For different categories special lexicons can be constituted automatically as well. One of the most important problems encountered in previous works is to refer to sources improperly. Therefore, an index software will be developed that it can divide the bibliographic information of a publication into parts, so that each part will be saved in proper blanks of the database. The sources entered as a text can be transferred to the most common bibliographic styles such as APA, Oxford, and Chicago Manual of Style. The bibliographic information of publications can be printed out in any reference style; mistakes and shortcomings seen on the data can be corrected; and any suggestion to correct them can be requested even while searching. At the duration of this project "Theology Field Journal Editors Workshop" will be organized hosted by Cumhuriyet University. In the workshop some topics such as the process of publications, problems and solutions, academic publication ethics, plagiarism and cautions to prevent it, problems on giving reference to an academic source, suggestions to make a database for Turkish-English-Arabic keywords, and the impact factors of Turkish theology journals will be discussed comprehensively. By putting the project into practice Cumhuriyet University Center for Religious Sciences will play a pioneer role on each step of academic theological publishing and on the matter of citation processes. At the result of the project, all the processes of digital achieving and transforming to PDF and Word files the articles which are published in Turkish theological peer-reviewed journals. This project is going to contribute and improve the quality and quantity of academic works published in the field of theology, and the visibility in international area, so that their impact factor will increase consistently. |
