Dr. Nuri Salık was born in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, in 1986. He completed his primary, elementary and high school education in Istanbul. He began undergraduate education in the Department of History at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2004 and graduated with high honors in 2009. He also completed minor program at the Department of International Relations. In 2012, he earned master's degree from the Department of International Relations at METU. Dr. Salık received his first PhD from the Department of History at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) in 2018, where he also worked as a research assistant between 2011-2018. In 2017, he was a visiting doctoral student at King's College Middle East Institute in London, and was a post-doctoral researcher at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 2019-2020. In 2023, he earned his second PhD from the Department of International Relations at METU.He became associate professor in 2024. Dr. Salık's main research interests are modern Turkish history, Turkish foreign policy, Syrian history and foreign policy, Turkey-Syria relations, US foreign policy and Theories of International Relations. Dr. Salık, who is married and father of two children, speaks advanced English, intermediate Arabic and French.
