Dr. Melek Mutioğlu Özkesen graduated from Middle East Technical University (Department of International Relations) in 2011 and completed her Master’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration at the same university in 2014. She earned her PhD in International Relations from Ankara University in 2020.

Since 2011, she has been working at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Business School. Her research focuses on the political economy of trade, land politics, state transformation, agrifood industry and currently sustainability. She has carried out research visits and collaborations in the several European countries, contributing to international projects on sustainable land management and public asset governance. She is the author of a book on land politics in Turkey called "Toprakları Kapatmak" and the scriptwriter of the documentary “Fındıktan Sonra." 

She is fluent in Turkish and English, and intermediate proficiency in German.

In addition to her academic work, she values spending time in nature, creative writing, and collective learning environments.
