Biography

Halil Tayyip Uysal has the titles of Speech and Language Therapist, European Stuttering Specialist, and Research Assistant.

He completed his bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) in 2017, master's degree in 2020, doctorate in 2025 at Hacettepe University.

He completed the European Stuttering Specialization Course between 2022-2023, which was organized with leading faculty members and more than 20 international partners in the field of stuttering in the world. Subsequently, he was awarded the title of Certified European Stuttering Specialist (CESS) in 2024.

After receiving his bachelor's degree, he worked for 3 years in special education and rehabilitation centers, counseling centers and in his private practice. These services covered individuals who have speech and language disorders, especially individuals of all ages who stutter and/or have language development problems. Currently, he serves patients with his interns in the Speech and Language Therapy Laboratory of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU), where he has been working since 2020. He is one of the members of the accreditation commission of AYBU SLT Department.

Adding overseas experience to his career, he was a visiting researcher in Tennessee, United States of America between 2024-2025. In this context, in 2023, he was the recipient of the TUBİTAK 2214-A Scholarship and conducted his doctoral dissertation with an experimental project at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Knoxville. His dissertation investigated the neural processing of listener responses to stuttering and had important implications for societal responses to individuals who stutter.

Dr. Uysal likes reading self-help and history/period books, and practicing yoga and meditation, which he was recognized with the pandemic. In his quality time, he walks, smells the historical texture of Ankara and enjoys spending time with his friends.

He is from Antalya and has been living in Ankara for many years.

He is a dad who has two cats.

He is committed to defending the rights of animals and disadvantaged groups. He is strongly committed to his profession; he is motivated by being at university, touching the lives of many students in his professional life and thinking that they will address various segments of society.

Dr. Uysal is a member of the DKTD and the WSCO, and international affiliate of ASHA.
