PROF. DR. AHMET KANKAL
He was born in 1963 in
Kırıkkale/Yahşihan. He completed his primary and secondary education in
Yahşihan and high school education in Kırıkkale. He graduated from Ankara
University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography, Department of Medieval
History in 1985. In 1986, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Dicle
University and his position was transferred to Ankara University Social
Sciences Institute. He completed his master's degree in 1987 and his doctorate
in 1993 at the same institute.
In 1994, he was appointed as an
Assistant Professor at Dicle University Faculty of Education and became the Head
of the Department of Classroom Teaching. In 1999, he received the title of
"Associate Professor" in the Department of Modern History. In 2008,
he was appointed as a Professor at Nevşehir University Faculty of Arts and
Sciences. He served as acting Dean as well as Head of the Department of History
at the same faculty. He was appointed to Dicle University by YÖK in 2009. In
November 2009, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and as the
Dean of the Faculty of Sciences by proxy at Dicle University in November 2009. In
2012 he moved his position to Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University while he kept
working at Nevşehir University. Ahmet Kankal completed his duties as Dean of
Dicle University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in November 2012 and returned to
Ankara, where his position is located. He served as the Dean of Ankara Yıldırım
Beyazıt University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences between 2013 and
2016. Between the same dates, he served as a member of the Scientific Board of
the Atatürk Higher Institution of Culture, Language and History, Turkish
Historical Society. Prof. is currently a faculty member at Ankara Yıldırım
Beyazıt University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of
History. Ahmet Kankal is married and the father of three children.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kankal's research
areas are on Ottoman Social and Economic History, History of Ottoman
Institutions, Ottoman Diplomatics, City History, Turkish Cultural History,
Armenian Social Life and Armenian Culture, and Armenian Literature Published in
Turkish. He has seven published books, articles published in national and
international peer-reviewed journals, encyclopedia articles, and papers
presented and published in national and international symposiums and
congresses. In addition to being a book and magazine editor, Kankal also served
as a magazine referee. He was a consultant for the program titled "The Art
of Sultans" broadcast on TRT and also participated in the program as a
speaker. Kankal, who has made many international and domestic trips; loves
trips and visits, reading, writing, watching movies, listening to music,
singing songs and folk songs, chatting, and traveling in time and space by
following words and phrases.
