Analysis of Dede Korkut Stories In the context of Jung’s Archetypes and Psychological Types Theory

Abstract:

The main purpose of this study; Was the examination of Dede Korkut Stories, which are among the most suitable works of Turkish literature in every aspect, with the concepts of "archetype" and "psychological type" included in the Analytical Psychology theory of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung. Archetypes, which belong to the intersection of literature and psychology, are the product of common accumulation of human history. Psychological types complement the archetypes which behold the traces of this common accumulation. In this context, the "INTRODUCTION" section of the study primarily focused on the biography of Carl Gustav Jung and analytical psychology. After mentioning the place of dreams in analytical psychology, basic archetypes and psychological types are described in following sections and, finally, relevant studies are introduced. Following, after describing the nature, place of origin and history, geography, language, shape and style of the Dede Korkut Stories, copies, identity and personality of Dede Korkut, relevant studies on Dede Korkut Stories were mentioned. In the second part of the study entitled "ANALYSIS OF DEDE KORKUT STORIES IN THE CONTEXT OF JUNG'S ARCHETYPES AND PSYCHCOLOGICAL TYPES THEORY", 12 narratives in the Dede Korkut Stories are analyzed according to the 8 archetypes (child, hero, mother, persona, shadow, anima, animus, old wise man, I) and 8 psychological types (extraverted thinking, extraverted feeling, extraverted sensation, extraverted intuition, introverted thinking, introverted feeling, introverted sensation, introverted intuition) introduced in the first part.
