Abstract:

Abū Mansūr Muhammad ibn Mahmūd Al-Mātūrīdī (d. 333/944) is the founder of the Māturīdī sect, who is the glossator and the scribe. Although his date of birth is not known precisely, it is estimated that he came to the world in the middle of the first half of the III/IXth century and that his life goes on for an age. Considering that the language and genre features he uses in his works are in the region where Samarkand and his surroundings, where he lived, are mostly located by Turks, It can be said that Māturīdī is Turkish origin Imam Māturīdī died in 944. Until this time, many works have been done on the concept of Mutashâbih in religious texts. The purpose of this study is to determine the approach of Mutashâbih to the compliant verses. Our study consists of entrance and two parts. In the introduction section; The subject of the research, its significance, purpose, method, resources, information about the life and scientific personality of Mātūrīdī. In the first section; After the linguistic and intuitional meanings of the interpretation, Ta'wīl, Muhkam, Mutashābih conventions are given, the types, numbers, wisdom of the Qur'an and approaches to prominence in Mutashâbih are discussed. In the second chapter; Explanations of the verses related to the definition of Māturīdī muhkam and mutashābih, the general view on the muhkam and mutashābih verses, was followed by Māturīdī according to the enthusiasm of the hurūf al-mukattaa, khabarī attribute, afterlife, have been handled in the context of the Ta'wīlāt al-Qur'ān and Kitāb al-Tawhīd. In the conclusion and evaluation section, it is aimed to provide a ground for the better understanding of the Qur'an in our time by giving an explanation about the views of Māturīdī.
